Anyway I've been up to a fair bit from photographing Florence Welch (Florence and the machine) and being published in The Sun to doing shoots for the West End star that is Velma Celli, to a double page spread in Beige Magazine and another article in the debut issue of GladRag magazine launching in late September. I am pleased to say that Gladrag magazine which launches very soon with it's hotly anticipated 'Drag Queen' Issue will be featuring a series of my images that I've taken over the past 12 months on The Very Miss Dusty 'O'.

The series of images feature Dusty from the first night I ever photographed her up until my present day pictures and feature images not included in the book and pictures you may just never have seen before.

But when the premiere for Sex and the City 2 came around last Thursday on the 27th of May, I become one of those crazy fans in Leicester Square. Not only did I get through security when they said 'We're not letting anyone else in' I also made it to the front with some help from my good friends.

Obviously I got to meet all the SATC girls but I most importantly got to meet Sarah Jessica Parker, a woman I've been in awe of for a very long time, and she didn't disappoint, she was in a Philip Treacy head piece and fabulous Alexander McQueen gown. Anyway I won't continue to babble, here's all the signatures below. Obviously SJP's autograph got a whole page to itself because she's that fucking important to me.

I thought I'd lost this little gem, but it returned to my life today by falling out of a notebook in the sweetest of manors. I love the lighting and the composition of the polaroid. I miss having 600 film constantly, my sx-70 was my best photographic friend, YES even more than Lady Tank.

After chatting to a friend from back 'ome in the midlands, I decided to scan in and upload my old 600 polaroid shots. Because I didn't have the money at the time for actual sx-70 film, I adapted 600 film which is no longer available at a reasonable price and I used two different filters with the film.

Anyway, I shot random things such as landscapes and flowers. Which is sooooooo not my usual style, however I like the results anyway. Here's some of my favorites. enJOY.

Well the other evening I headed to Trannyshack with only my polaroid camera. Unfortunately I should have known myself better, as I had one too many Vodka's and accidently/stupidly opened up the back of my polaroid camera and exposed the last 4 polaroids. What a slap in my drunk face eh? So here's my six polaroids that I managed to take, also including a very well known TV presenter Mr Gok Wan, who is honestly one of the nicest people I've ever met.

I really dislike wasting Polaroids, and earlier on myself and Lady Tank had a bit of a situation on our hands. It basically involved myself turning the flash off, and Lady Tank's automatic sensor turning the flash back on, therefore I wasted 3 polaroids and nearly killed my ears and others around me by screaming. It was a real moment of drama.

Anyway, silver lining. They actually look kind of nice, beautiful in an abstract way maybe?

As well as photographing and making my Trannyshack UK book for my current University brief, I am also working in a group for another part of my course and these photographs will be printed and exhibited in Victoria Park in East London in late May early June. My part of the group work is to photograph 'Lovers' of all kinds in Victoria park, it may sound very cliche but trust me it won't be.

I'm looking for couples, straight AND gay that feel they can act naturally in front of a camera (It is my worst nightmare to photograph people who freeze up when a lens is pointed towards them.) So if you have any feeling that this could be you, please don't volunteer. Couples won't be asked to do anything to trying other than really look natural in each others company. I don't want these shots too be stereotypical and therefore I am looking for people from all walks of life.

High above the city of London in the Centre Point building, Circus' 4th Birthday was the place to be saturday night on the 3rd of April. Surrounded by well known names such as JLS, Paloma Faith, Mr Hudson, half of the Saturdays and my personal sex god and fashion designer Henry Holland it was a field day for celebrity spotters. However that was not my personal highlight of the evening, I LOVED the music, the panoramic views of London and the general atmosphere that has made Circus famous. Next Circus I'm going to be there, you should TOO!

On the 29th I attended a screening of 'Pink Narcissus' by the infamous James Bidgood at the Tate Modern here in my 'new' home town London, made over a fairly long period of time it's a story based around a male prostitute called Bobby Kendall (Barbie Ken Doll maybe?) and his erotic yet beautiful dreams and fantasies while alone in his apartment. It was to say the least a brilliant film, Bidgood who still refers to the film as his 'Mangled masterpiece' due to the overall editing of the film that was out of his control certainly made a classic and an amazing piece of work.

I'd advise anyone to find this film and see it asap, and at £4 a ticket for what is definitely a masterpiece it's a complete bargain rather than paying £12 for some box office bollocks, and plus it tends to attract some gorgeous men to the venue too! Always a bonus.

Now I don't usually blog about any of the lectures I attend on a weekly basis, though some guest speakers have been entertaining and have stimulated my brain cells in some way, this is the first time I actually engaged in a lecture and loved every word the man spoke.

Michael Trow is the picture editor of British Vogue, and in my eyes though he may not know it an inspiration. He spoke of his previous jobs at Bizarre magazine and how he got the job at British Vogue after previously going to Conde Nast in search of freelance work at GQ Magazine, he also talked about how he works on a day to day and monthly basis, and of course who he has worked with over the years at this countries fashion bible.

For once in my life I was so grateful for UEL providing a brilliant lecturer that managed to put the spark back into photography and in particular fashion photography, after months of my professional practice lectures dragging down my overall love for photography and my course.

From the makers of Shortbus a film I loved dearly for many years, is Hedwig and the Angry Inch, a film I've heard so much about but alas never got round to watching, until 2am the other morning while drinking white strike (Yes I'm a classy lad) It came on channel 4, and I was from the beginning in LOVE. If you enjoy films such as Transformers and Terminator this film definitely isn't for you, but if you love films like Shortbus and Party Monster, Go watch it immediately.

For a change today I went to see a new TV programme on ITV to be aired in the next few weeks called - Dannii Minogue Iconic Movie Toons, and I know how it sounds very cheesy and cliche, and if you take Denise Van Outen and Duncan James out of the mix it really was rather the opposite. Dannii Minogue was a beautiful yet down to earth and quite comical host and performances by Katherine Jenkins and the cast of Lion King were really quite spectacular, especially when you consider I got all of this for free.

So if I could recommend one thing to anyone out there is get onto this site and you'll find some real crackers. On the 10th of February I'm off to see Alan Carr - Chattyman, and you know that'll be worth a cheeky giggle or two.

Say hello to my lovely Vivienne Westwood squiggle Pirate Boots inspired by the original 80's Pirate collection, my latest VW purchase. I don't think I've ever loved anything from Westwood as much as these boots. Anyway I took this as the perfect excuse to have a little shoot and mess around with the boots, I like the effects I used during editing and they remind me of a photographer I've seen before, but which one I can't put my finger on...

And while you're saying hello to my new booties, I'll say hello to rice and noodles, something I'm going to be eating a lot of after the purchase of these babies...

' T h e B e a t '

David Sims is another one of my favourite Fashion Photographers, if you haven't guessed from all my blogs so far Fashion Photography is probably my biggest interest. Just like Mario Testino, Nick Knight and Patrick Demarchelier, David Sims sits among my favourite photographers in the Fashion Industry. And what better way to finish my 12 blogs than with one of my favourite campaigns directed and shot by him for the Burberry 'The Beat' Fragrance made in the Summer of London 2007.

For me David Sims is a brilliant photographer anyway (and I've included some of his other work below) but my favourite work I've ever seen him do was shooting the campaign for Burberry, the idea of 'The Beat' fragrance was to get younger and more youthful people interested in what is usually a very old and gone brand, and he didn't disappoint. He made the campaign fast and edgy with harsh lighting and quick movement, conveying a youthful and updated look to the brand of Burberry, consequently along with the campaign, the model and all the media advertising 'The Beat' was one of the biggest selling Fragrances of 2007, making it a complete success and I think when you look at the shoot and the end results it's very obvious why.

R o l a n d B a r t h e s

Semiotics, also called semiology or semiotic studies, is the study of sign processes, both individually and also grouped together in systems of symbols. It includes the study of how meaning is constructed and understood in humans. Semiotics are included in everything and are considered vital in communication.

Semiotics can be very important also in the world of Art, in Photographic pieces different symbols and different images can give the various viewers totally different feelings towards a piece of Art.

Roland Barthes born in 12 November 1915 and died in 25 March 1980, Roland Barthes's wrote the semiotic book Mythologies, the book centered around the idea of interrogating various pieces of cultural material to expose (to society) how society used them to assert its values upon others. In The Fashion industry Roland Barthes showed how this abuse of signs could easily be translated into words and showed how the industry were using Semiotics to in pact on their customers. In this work he explained how in the fashion industry any word could be transformed with idealistic emphasis. For example Barthes pointed out, if trends in fashion say that a ‘blouse’ is ideal for a certain situation or event, this idea is immediately accepted as truth, even though the actual sign could just as easily be changed with any other item in the Fashion Industry for example a ‘shirt’, ‘vest’ or any other fashion item.

For the 2007 CFDA Awards, America’s most prestigious fashion awards ceremony, world famous fashion photographer Nick Knight was asked to make a film and shoot a photo shoot featuring the nominees for the Best Womenswear Designer category, a list that included Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler and Oscar de la Renta.

On Friday 20 April before the actual awards SHOWstudio (Nick Knights own photographic company) broadcasted the making of the film from a London-based studio, starring model of the moment Agyness Deyn who wore creations from each designer’s last two seasons’ collections. The finished film was later shown on the SHOWstudio website and was featured at the CFDA awards ceremony in June that year.

It's one of my favourite films using photography, and as a fan of Nick Knight I always like his work but this one in particular I think is fantastic, his choice of model (Agyness Deyn) and the way he uses the lighting and her movents along with the shadows to show off the collections is amazing.

M o d e r n i s m / P o s t m o d e r n i s m

Postmodernism, like modernism, follows most of these same basic principles, rejecting boundaries between totally different forms of art and throwing away rigid genre distinctions set way back in the day and instead emphasizing a new way of thinking and working, often using irony and playfulness to create artistic pieces.

Postmodernism Art favors being more free that past Art, instead of figures and objects sitting for portraits or oil based landscapes, Postmodernism created a new way of thinking and making art, artists were allowed to be a lot freer and the basic rules of Art were thrown into the rubbish bin, Jackson Pollock is an example of an Artist who instead of working in a standard basic way, use the rules of Postmodernism to create their work in a positive way.

While postmodernism seems very much like modernism in these ways, it differs from modernism in its attitude toward a lot of these trends. Many modernist works try to achieve something by trying to change the world in some way, meaning is important in Modernism, most artists using the Modernism approach find they are trying to create meaning out of the world in a productive manor. Postmodernism, in contrast, doesn't think about the world in anyway, but rather celebrates that. The world is meaningless? Let's not pretend that art can make meaning then, let's just play with nonsense and enjoy it.

I'm a huge fan of Lady Gaga's and to most people I speak to they think she's just an attention seeking Popstar, however I feel if you look deeper you begin to see a woman who isn't interested in becoming a Popstar she's interested in becoming a world Icon.

On her last visit to London she upped the pace and began Photographing the Paparazzi while they photographed her using the idea of irony and playing with the idea of 'Fame' again like Warhol did all his life, she also mentioned in the video below, using the power of imagery and photography, she began carrying around a single purple tea cup and saucer everywhere she went, until the media finally picked up on this and started producing articles on the subject. She also makes all of her music video's very graphic and artistic including photography, art and the essense of Warhol, the withdrawn/banned video of 'Love Game', withdrawn from certain countries because of it being 'far too explicit', I have included a version of the song below, and could not use the official video due to Youtube restrictions.

When I started this blog just a few minutes ago, I wasn't sure how to write about Feminism because I never really got the grasp of the subject/idea in the seminar, it's a very flimsy idea to me that I know very little about, and every time I think about it I remember a quote from the Guardian which I've included below.

I know women have suffered and I think it’s great that people stand up for women’s rights but the problem with feminists is that they somehow consider women to be superior beings. Cindy Sherman for me is the only Feminist photographer who's work I like, I can see what she's getting at and I can see what she's trying to convey, a lot of her photographs feature her in the kitchen cooking and getting ready for 'her' man all things that woman only used to be known for and I can see how her work represents Feminism and for me I think that's fantastic, I can see how she changed views in photography and how simple things like using herself as the model and setting up these scenarios make her so famous in the Photography world, I really like her feminist work.
